What else are knitting needles good for?

So on twitter the other night we established that if the Zombie Apocalypse  a good pair of metal (or carbon fiber)knitting needles could be used to kill a zombie in an emergency. Similarly, a pair of circular needles could be used to garrote someone should you need to.

See, if Rick had some knitting needles here he could cull the zombie population a bit quite easily! No fuss, no muss!

But is there anything else you could use your needles for (excluding knitting obviously) or do you already use them for something else one might not expect?

    Hmmm... yes, that could work, although they are possibly a bit too round, might drop the food. But then again, given that they're sharper and I could therefor use them to spear the food I'd probably find them easier to use!
